Clamp Connections – Overview and Technical Information
INFORMATION
Clamp connections represent a standard in the food and pharmaceutical industry. There are three pipe classes:
- Metric Series Aaccording to DIN 11866
- Imperial Series B
- ASME Series C
The pipe class indicates – in relation to the clamp flange size – theinternal diameterof the clamps.
Therefore, different internal diameters can occur with the same flange size.
M+B Fluid uses the common in Europemetric series A(see table). Clamps should be manufactured with high surface quality, machined from solid material, and to precise dimensions to meet strict hygiene requirements.
Table of Clamp Sizes (Metric Series A)
| DN | Disc Ø | corresponds to inch size |
|---|---|---|
| 15, 20 | 34 mm | ½", ¾" |
| 25, 32, 38 | 50.5 mm | 1", 1¼", 1½" |
| 50 | 64 mm | 2" |
| 65 | 91 mm | 2½" |
| 80, 75 | 106 mm | 3" |
| 100 | 119 mm | 4" |
Technical Information
- Standard: DIN 32676 H3 (BS4825, ISO2852)
- Threaded Connections: DIN 11851 (milk pipe), S60×6 barrel thread
- Hose connection: DIN EN 14420 (elastomer hoses)
- Surface: H3, Ra ≤ 0.8 µm
- Material: 1.4404
- Batch traceability: available
Field of application
Clamps according to DIN 32676 are widely used in many existing systems across Europe.
They are often used for quickly laid pipes and as a transition from other systems, such as IBC
containers. Adapters are therefore often required.
Why M+B
- Compliance with hygiene standard H3, optionally HE3
- Absolute dimensional accuracy and batch identification
- Also available with thick, diffusion-tight PFA lining (optionally antistatic in black)
- Versions with hose fittings according to DIN EN 14420 or with welded ends
- Transition pieces, reductions and adapters for various connections available
