Vane cell pump / Sliding vane pump
Avane cell pump– alsoknown as a sliding vane pump– is a rotating displacement system that evenly conveys liquids or gases. Brands such asPIUSIuse this technology in many pump models for diesel and oils, for examplePanther 56, Panther 72orE120(for diesel) as well asViscomat 70andViscomat 90(for oils).
Operating principle
- Inside the pump housing is aneccentrically mounted rotorwith slots.
- In these slots sitvanes (blades), which are pushed outwards bycentrifugal force or springsand rest against the inner wall.
-
Due to theeccentric arrangementdifferent sized chambers are created during rotation:
- Suction phase:Chambers enlarge, medium flows in.
- Pressure phase:Chambers reduce in size, medium is conveyed to the outlet.
Typical applications at PIUSI
- Diesel refuelling: ModelsPanther 56, Panther 72, E120– for filling stations, agricultural and construction machinery
- Oil and lubricant pumping: ModelsViscomat 70, Viscomat 90– ideal for thicker media
- Hydraulic systems, lubricating oil and fuel circuits
- Chemical and food industry (in suitable versions)
- Vacuum generation with gaseous media
Advantages
- Uniform,low-pulsation pumping
- Self-priming, even with air content
- Compact design
- High efficiency at low to medium pressures
- Pumping direction reversible by changing rotation direction
Disadvantages
- Sensitive to solid particles (risk of abrasion)
- Wear on blades and housing with abrasive or unsuitable media
- Delivery pressure lower than that of gear or piston pumps
